More artists set for Big Ears 2010

While most of the time when you think Festival and Tennessee, your mind immediately conjures Bonnarroo, there's another festival gearing up for its second run this March in Knoxville.

The dates are March 26-28, and the festival is Big Ears 2010. This year they are celebrating the 75th bday of Terry Riley, an American minimalist composer. He's the artist in residence at the festival and will perform several concerts throughout the weekend. Bryce Dessner of The National is co-curating the weekend.

But enough of all that technical jazz. How about who's playing?

Prior to the news blast I got this morning, the festival was already set with Vampire Weekend, the Calder Quartet, 802 Tour (Nico Muhly / Doveman / Sam Amidon with Nadia Sirota), Joanna Newsom, St. Vincent, Andrew WK, The Ex, Gang Gang Dance, Clogs, The xx, Javelin, DJ/rupture (solo), DJ/rupture and Andy Moor, My Brightest Diamond, Gyan Riley, and jj.

Now comes the news they've adde The National (obviously with Dessner co-curating), Dirty Projectors, Bang on a Can All-Stars, Iva Bittova, Ben Frost, Tim hecker, Tracy Silverman and Buke & Gass.

Passes are available at or calling 865-684-1200 x2 (10 a.m. - 5 p.m. EST).

The full schedule will be detailed later this month, with tix for individual events/concerts going on sale then as well.
