Kaki King returns with new album, tour

April 13 marks the return of Kaki King. Junior will be the Brooklyn singer-songstress' fifth album, and first on Rounder Records.

Apart from what I just listened to on her MySpace page, I knew nothing of the female singer, and have now pencilled in a show in Omaha in May as a show I should go to, my first impression is Cat Power crossed with Ani DiFranco.

Junior may be her most in-depth in terms of musical ideology, as she went into the studio with her compatriot musicians, Dan Brantigan and Jordan Perlson.

"Prior to this I would have written a lot in the studio and played all the instruments myself," King says. "This time, I really leaned on Dan and Jordan to help shape the songs and help me get the record written."
