Free music from Charlie Mars

Here's a new twist on gimmicks, Esquire Magazine held a 2-day photo shoot in Clarksdale, MS recently. There were five musicians featured in the fashion spread (shot by Danny Clinch) and each was asked to write & record a song that included the phrase "Somewhere in Mississippi."

The results began premiering on the mag's website yesterday and each song is available for one day only.

Today is Charlie Mars, who's new album Like A Bird, Like A Plane was released on Rockingham Records recently.

Mars has enlisted bandmates JJ Johnson (John Mayer) on drums, John Ginty (Citizen Cope) on keyboards, George Reiff (Jakob Dylan) and Dave Monzie (Fiona Apple) on bass on the new album.
Mars' track "Back of the Room" is available today only - well kind of. On April 5, all 5 songs from the gimmick will be available as a free download from Esquire.
