The next generation of Shoegaze pop starts with Makaras Pen

Do you like Lush? Ever wish Kevin Shields would get his shit together and put out a new My Bloody Valentine record?

I know it's not the same thing, but here's a new band from Buffalo, NY called Makaras Pen who has been compared in high regard to both Lush and MBV.

Their s/t debut will be out digitally on May 8 and physically on June 15 (Projeckt) and features members of Tearwave.

The name, it's a traditional creature in Hindu mythology.

In guitarist Doug White's own words about the shoegaze genre - “has always evoked different emotions in different people, hence the makara,” which, he claims, “represent good and evil, right and wrong and other counter thoughts.” He simply mentions that it “seemed like a good fit.”

been a while for a free mp3, so how about "Falling Deeper" - reminds me a lot of a band called Shallow from Lawrence in the mid 90s

and here's some catching up for you -
  • Typhoon will open for Yann Tierson on his upcoming tour - it's 6 dates in the southwest
  • DJ Rehka is having a 13th Birthday bash, for his annual party in NYC
