The Devil Wears Prada goes Zombie in August

Have you fallen for The Devil Wears Prada yet? If so, check out their MySpace page (as if you didn't know already) because they've got a new song streaming. And if you haven't found yourself under their influence (and you dig the heavy stuff) you should go too.

"Outnumbered" may open with a statement that could have just as easily been read by Robert Stack as it was done here before the band destroys you with their punishing sound.

The song is one of just a handful that will appear on TDWP's new Zombies EP due out Aug. 24 on Ferret Music.

in their own words - "The whole thing is just completely based upon zombies," explained TDWP's front man Mike Hranica.  "Last fall, I was on a real zombie kick, I read 'The Zombie Survival Guide' by Max Brooks, and I thought, 'what if we made a zombie song?'  All it took was me just saying that to the band, and we had our hearts set on doing this EP."

"The sound is definitely The Devil Wears Prada, but so much more," Hranica continues.  "It's sinister and bad-ass."  Guitarist/vocalist Jeremy DePoyster agrees, maintaining that Zombie EP is faster than anything TDWP has done before.  "It's going to be sick," said DePoyster.  "It's us, but it's more Hatebreed-influenced and just straight-up thrash metal-influenced with some serious Slayer riffs."

"We wanted to go back to our roots," said Hranica, "play little hole-in-the-wall places where fans can be right there in front of the stage, where we can hand someone a mic and really have the fans be an active part of the show, not behind a barrier ten feet away."

and of course, assuming you won't be able to wait 7 weeks for the new album, you can catch TDWP on the road beginning on Thursday.

if that's all there is, then let's keep dancing, let's break out the booze and have a ball -
  • Incubus is back in the studio, even with leadman Brandon Boyd's solo album dropping today - Incubus' newsletter says there's a new video out for Boyd's "Runaway Train" on AOL - but I must not be AOL compatible, cuz I couldn't find the damn thing.
  • Dawes did a session on Yours Truly recently
  • Rodrigo y Gabriela have a new video for "Hanuman" and if you like stirring guitar oriented music, you need to check this out.
  • The Joy Formidable will be in LA this week to finish the recording of their debut album.
